I hate to say it, but something inside me suspects that this show is going to be a hit. Good fun, but hardly fair! As we might expect, it also seems like there is a few stupid human tricks mixed in for good measure. Except that these muscle cars look to be of the modern "Pro-Touring" variety, muscle cars that have been augmented with modern brakes and suspension. There is an age-old question here in North America: Which is better, imports or domestics? RUFTAR seeks to answer that question by pitting modern imports against some traditional American muscle on the track. Of course that also means that a good chunk of their non-racing content is also directed at them, which may explain Speed's newest reality show, "RU Faster Than a Redneck".
The sad reality is that there are far more of them watching TV in the States than there are us. Those of us who prefer sports cars and rally cars to stock car racing often lament the lack of our type of racing on the Speed Channel.
